Ibiza Rocks last night was one of those nights where you go in with very little expectation you are going to enjoy it but the complete opposite happens. I’d seen Maverick Sabre on Jools Holland and was really impressed and in addition to that he’s got a great sense of humour on twitter, its not normally my sort of thing but him and the band were great and were a brilliant support band – he’s got a down-to-earth persona about him that is refreshing.
Up next and a bit like Kissy SellOut the other week, Rusko has a very energetic dj style – it was good – the crowd loved it.
If you had asked me which Ibiza Rocks gig I was least looking forward to this year it would’ve been Tinie Tempah as I imagined it would be a dj type setup. Nothing could’ve been further from the truth. I saw the drums and guitars being set up and was wondering what we’d get. What we got was not a million miles away from Biffy Clyro last week. Loud guitars, a full band, Tinie bouncing all over the place. Ibiza Rocks was absolutely rammed and although I have to stick with Biffy being the best gig so far this year, Tinie Tempah easily slots in at a very close second – and we had Kylie in attendance to boot. Amazing night and reaffirms my belief that you should always see any band/artist once – you might be surprised… Shock great gig of the year for me.
