We went over to Mallorca at the weekend for the opening of the new Mallorca Rocks Hotel with The Kooks, Bombay Bicycle Club and Zane Lowe. We have to say we were really impressed with the whole setup. The rooms are done out with rock prints on the wall, nice large lounge, kitchen area and balcony with decent sized bedrooms – even the shower curtains had the Mallorca Rocks logo on them.

The pool areas have large terrace type areas around them to chill out. Apart from the price of the wifi (6 euros an hour or 15 euros for the day) there was nothing we could find fault with and would certainly go back.

We popped out just before doors opened and were surprised by the sheer number of people waiting to get in. Both bands didnt disappoint and were great. Afterwards there was a “backstage” after party in one of the bars and then over to BCM club round the corner for the official after party.

It was a packed 4 days at the World Travel Market in London last week. Ibiza was well presented and Ibiza Rocks had their party on Wednesday evening with DJ Doorly and Nicola Bear dj’ing and unveiled their expansion to Mallorca with the new Mallorca Rocks Hotel.

The new branded Mallorca Rocks Hotel as it is now:

Situated around 300 metres from the beach in the lively resort of Magaluf on the south west coast of Majorca. The hotel is approximately 25km west of the capital Palma and the Son Sant Joan International airport, and 100 metres from the Magaluf resort centre where you will find a wide selection of restaurants, bars, shops and nightlife.

Ibiza Rocks will further expand the brand with the opening of a second destination concept hotel next summer. The 330 room Mallorca Rocks Hotel, situated in Magaluf, will be based on the same successful model as the Ibiza Rocks Hotel, encapsulating a whole lifestyle under one roof, including up to six gigs at the hotel during it’s opening season.

Magaluf is the biggest youth resort in the Mediterranean and it’s about to get it’s biggest makeover. The live music line up at the Mallorca Rocks Hotel will be revealed early next year and like the flagship Ibiza Rocks Hotel, guests can expect to see some of the world’s best acts playing live under the stars in the hotel’s courtyard throughout the summer. Eventually, the gigs will run weekly and many of the acts booked will perform at both Mallorca Rocks and Ibiza Rocks within 48 hours.

Whilst Ibiza Rocks will retain its role of booking cutting edge DJ’s and breakthrough bands as well as established acts in order to cater for its more music savvy crowd, Mallorca Rocks will initially focus more on the mainstream, championing the best big artists playing Ibiza Rocks, in the aim of establishing a regular, quality live event in Magaluf and rejuvenating the islands music scene.
