To help find that next up-and-coming SUPERSTAR DJ, DJ Awards has launched a competition in collaboration with one of the world’s leading electronic DJ and Producers, Paul van Dyk who is also a proactive ambassador for DANCE4LIFE, an international initiative to involve young people in the struggle against HIV and AIDS.

They are offering the chance to win a trip of a lifetime to Ibiza and to have a masterclass with Paul van Dyk. On top of that the winner will play one of the most famous legendary sunset bars, their dream set.

They will also be given VIP treatment to attend the DJ Awards ceremony at Pacha, Ibiza on Tuesday 29th September where some of the most talented DJs in the world will attend. This prestigious awards ceremony is celebrating 12 years of the event, which honours some of the most talented DJs in the world and is one of the most important award ceremonies across the globe.

Well known in the UK, DJ DES PAUL will be hosting this years DJ Awards, alongside a gathering of the world’s top DJ’s. His co-host will be Mariana Ribeiro, a Brasilian artist and dancer known to the public in Ibiza thanks to her performances at Manumission and Pacha.

Des Paul is best known as the DJ on Capital 95.8FM every weekend. He has been involved in the music industry for over 10 years mainly in broadcast and is an award winning presenter who works also for MTV Networks UK.

The ceremony will feature many internationally renowned DJs with two live performances during the night: the first from RON CARROLL, American singer, songwriter and producer that has worked with the most established artists in the house music industry, the second is from FRAGMA a German producer and singer famous for her song ‘Toca’s Miracle’.
The DJ Awards pre-party and ceremony will be broadcast live via different radio stations nationwide and internationally - check www.djawards.com for further details to listen live to the event.

Ibiza Sonica Radio will be the official broadcaster at the press cocktail party at Ocean Drive Hotel from 8pm till 10pm.

The 11th DJ Awards taking place at Pacha on Thursday 25th September have announced the nominees for 2008.

This year the DJ Awards have collaborated with some key names in the music industry to choose what is one of the most comprehensive list of Categories and Nominees since its creation 11 years ago.

There are 7 new music genre categories - Minimal, Tech House, Progressive House, Psy-Trance, Deep House, Hip Hop and Downtempo & Eclectic, plus 6 new Technology awards including Software Production Tool, MP3 Player, DJ Mixer, there is also a new category celebrating the International Dance Nation of the Year, with another 7 “Special” awards. The prestigious “Kryptonite” awards go to a host of DJs from different musical genres. These awards are extremely important to each of the nominees as they are voted for by the public, voting will start on MONDAY 21 JULY and will close on SUNDAY AUGUST 17, voting can be done via www.djawards.com.

In the past, this event has been attended by dance music’s top DJs, previous winners, such as Erick Morillo, Roger Sanchez, Sven Vath, Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, Danny Tenaglia, Ferry Corsten, Carl Cox plus many more have had the honour of receiving the mythic “Kryptonite” award. This event continues to be a family reunion amongst the DJ collective, who love to come together and celebrate the industry they have influenced.

There will be some very special guest performances during the awards ceremony, with the official after party continuing with the closing party from the F**k Me I’m Famous Crew featuring David Guetta.

The theme for this is years event is “DO NOT CHANGE THE CLIMATE, CHANGE YOURSELF!” highlighting the voice of concern to the music industry and how we as an industry can help to make change by changing our attitudes.

The artwork for the Climate Change theme of the event is also reflected in the cover of the 11th Edition CD compilation featuring the best tracks of the season all in their original versions.

International DJ legend Pete Tong will be hosting this very special event on the 27th September, with a gathering of the world’s top DJ’s. His co-host will be Gabriella Paina, presenter of Fashion TV.

The man behind Pure Pacha, and award winning radio presenter Pete Tong has had a long relationship with the DJ Awards, having been a recipient of no less than two awards himself, in 1999 (Radio DJ) and 2002 (Outstanding Contribution), In the following two years Pure Pacha also won Best Art Design for their groundbreaking artwork. So who better to be at the helm of the ceremony, than Pete Tong for their 10th Anniversary year.

There are 10 different “Music” genre categories, of which there are two new categories - Electro and Best International Festival, these are voted for by the public, there are also 7 other “Special” awards.
