Dot Rotton, Chase & Status Ibiza Rocks 2012 Review and Photos

Dot Rotten comes onstage at 9.30 following a DJ set from Doorly. It makes much more sense to put a DJ on before the support act. It doesn’t start to get dark in Ibiza in the height of summer until about then. South London rapper Dot Rotten does a good job of warming up the crowd following on from Doorly. By the time he leaves the stage the place is really busy.

Video clip of Dot Rotten:

Chase & Status take to the stage just after 10.30, performing a live set with the addition of drummer Andy Gangadeen sitting behind an impressive-looking drum kit and MC Rage presiding at the front. As the band arrives onstage they’re greeted with a sea of mobile phones in the air, as they launch into “No Problem”. The venue is filled with people with their hands in the air, jumping up and down.

They put on an impressive show, musically and visually. The stage set, visuals and lightshow is stunning, complementing the pacey, energised music emanating from the speakers and bouncing off the walls of the Ibiza Rocks Hotel. Periodically Saul Milton (Chase) leaves his station to play guitar stage left, giving the tunes a more rocky edge.

Playing all their hits mixed in with tunes from their two albums, they’re joined onstage by Mali to sing ‘Let You Go’. Towards the end of the set, a spontaneous mosh circle breaks out in the midst of the crowd.

But the best was yet to come! During the inevitable encore they do a storming version of Rage Against the Machine’s ‘Killing In the Name’. And Ibiza is rocking!

Look at the photos and watch the video clips to get a sense of what it was like to be there.
