Every Thursday in San Antonio here in Ibiza until 25th March, bars and cafe’s are doing a special promotion where you can get a Pincho (aka Pintxa) and a glass of wine or beer for just 2 euros.

A pincho or pintxa (catalan) is a small slice of bread on which an ingredient or mixture of ingredients is put and held there using a stick, which gives the food its name.

They’re called pinchos because many of them have a pincho (Spanish for spike), typically a toothpick, through them. The toothpick is used to keep whatever the snack is made of from falling off the bread it has been attached to, and to keep track of the number of items that the customer has eaten.

So if you end up with 4 toothpicks next to you, you get charged 8 euros…
