La Mala Hierba at Raco Verd, Ibiza tonight

La Mala Hierba (The Bad Weed) have been together for less than 3 years. During this time they’ve been in the finals of the Ibiza and Formentera Best Band competition for the last two years.

In the absence of suitable studios or proper recording rooms they put their set together in a shed behind a ceramic shop on the Sta. Eulalia road.

We’re at Raco Verd, the music loving venue opposite the church in San Jose, in their dark inside room with some fifty other savvy punters who also got word of this heavily unadvertised rock gig by one of the island’s finest.

There’s no PA, the band are playing with just their backline monitors and the sound in this small space is formidable. There are no spotlights so the band are silhouetes framed by the raunchy riffs of a V-shape ESP guitar and the throaty rumbles only possible through an elderly Vox amp.
A fantastic atmosphere.
Don’t miss the next one…
