IbizaNOW hike by torchlight in Santa Agnes on 9th February

ibiza torchlight walkWe will be meeting for a hike and a meal, followed by a chamber music concert by the “Lost Mountain Orchestra” in the attractive little village church of Sta. Agnes

Readers who joined us last year will look back fondly on this romantic evening: carrying our flaming torches, we hiked through the blossoming almond groves in the “Valley of the Crown”. It was a still night, the blossoms glowed in the light of our torches, and the air was heavy with the scent of honey, which is always so much stronger at night. Both groups were led by our hiking guides, Rolf and Josef, who had selected the route. We can promise that we’ll be slowing the pace down this year so that everyone can keep up. It will be a romantic ramble for all to enjoy.

After the hike was over, Paco Fernandez, one of the finest guitarists in Spain, accompanied by his drummer, Elvis, gave an electrifying classical guitar concert in the little village church – an unforgettable experience. The only thing missing back then was the full moon. Unfortunately, last year, the blossoming of the almond trees and the full moon didn’t coincide, so we had to make do without.

ibiza torchlight walkBut this year, the moon is on our side: on 9th February, it will be shining away in its full glory, provided that there are no clouds on the night, of course. But even if there are, we will still have our traditional torches imported from Germany especially for the occasion. Please remember to hold them away from your clothes as the melted wax can drip and leave a stain.

Once again, IbizaNOW readers will be able to attend a concert in the romantic church from 9.30 p.m. by the “Lost Mountain Orchestra” chamber music ensemble with Mal Brittain (vocals and guitar), Kate McGregor (vocals and double bass), Santiago Bonet Bufi (violin) and Volker Schmitz (guitar and musical direction).

The bishop of Ibiza has given his permission for the priest in Santa Agnes to open his church for this performance and we are very grateful for this opportunity. The musicians will be waiving their fees for the evening and we will be donating any profits we make to the church.

So this is how the evening will proceed: we will meet up outside the church at 6.30 p.m. The first group will set off straight away on the hike and the second will meet up in the “Can Cosmi” bar for tortilla, salad and wine, followed by a hike at around 8 p.m. when the first group returns for dinner. After both groups have finished, the concert will start.

Date: Monday, 9th February, 6.30 p.m. The price per head will be 30 euros (if you only want to attend the concert we kindly ask for a donation of 10 euros for the church). Sign up to attend by contacting IbizaNOW on 971 31 92 62
