A shameless plug for our mates at Aura:

Opening its doors back in July 2005, Aura Ibiza quickly found favour with the island’s cognoscenti. Situated in the more secluded and undisturbed north of the island, it became known as a place where a cosmopolitan mix of discerning visitors and residents in the know – Jade Jagger, James Blunt and Sienna Miller included – came to meet up with good friends and enjoy some of the island’s most talked about parties.

aura.jpgThree years on and Aura is now set to enter an exciting new phase under the guidance of owners Hayden Trethewy, Mark Turner and Shane Jarvis.

Building on the original, simple interior of Aura, Hayden, Mark and Shane wanted to ensure that it continued to reflect the special qualities that make the island so unique. To this end they teamed up with Clare Bloomer, an English interior designer who has lived in Ibiza for five years, and her Ibicenco partner Tony Guasch.

Clare has been weaving her magic on Aura Ibiza. Incorporating the colours, textures and materials of the island by way of dusty pink and chestnut brown furnishings, stone walls, polished cement, wood and natural fibres, and fusing everything together with warm light, she has succeeded in capturing that certain “something” that makes Ibiza so captivating.

The proposed menu meanwhile will also be a reflection of Aura’s more relaxed atmosphere. Utilising fresh, colourful and delicious ingredients – many of them sourced locally – the beautifully presented Mediterranean-inspired dishes will be loosely based around the Spanish tapas style and made for sharing.

The new Aura Ibiza is luxurious yet informal; a place to experience exaggerated comfort in a laid-back aesthetic whether dressed in flip-flops or a Cavalli gown. Opening for the 2008 season it is set to become a focal point for the international, discerning, fun-loving urbanites who have fallen in love with the real Ibiza in particular with the North of the island.

As in the past, an integral part of Aura Ibiza will be the music. Resident DJ will be Nima Gorji, a highly respected and successful DJ and producer who has played at such legendary clubs as The Room (Madrid) and Fellini (Barcelona) along with Underground, Pacha and Space in Ibiza.

The North of Ibiza has now come into its own as one of Europe’s most up-market and exclusive regions, favoured by well heeled, fashion conscious, thirtysomething professionals. Surrounded by Ibizencan country houses (or fincas as they are known), Aura looks set to consolidate its position as the destination of choice for this most discerning clientele.
