Ibiza Postal Strike

According to the evening internet version of todays Diario de Ibiza, The UGT union have called a postal strike here, effective tomorrow (Wednesday) and running through until saturday… “and which may cause delays in delivering Christmas cards”…

They go on to say that “The company is not organized and knowing that the Christmas campaign there is a lot more work, have not increased staff.” “The protest is to demand wage improvements and rejection of the working conditions that these workers have to endure”.

Whilst we have every sympathy one has to wonder whether anyone here will actually notice…

Don’t think that courier companies here are any better… We have a laptop that was ordered in Spain and have been using their (quite famous courier company) online tracking. We watched it start in Spain, and then amongst the numerous unknown airports around Europe and the World, the highlights have been Shanghai, Brussells, and finally Vigo in North Western Spain where it was going to be sent to Lugar in Portugal until someone there thought that might be a problem (only because they couldnt work out the address) … its been in Vigo currently now for 4 days… despite a number of calls saying “it’ll be delivered tomorrow”…
