The diario de ibiza reported this morning that Ibiza Town will install 5 cameras around Sa Penya district.
Ricardo Albin announced that in April of next year the five cameras should be already operational and, depending on the results, will consider extending “such measures” to other parts of the municipality.
However there is considerable debate as to whether CCTV actually works – This Is London article. Unlike the UK however, the installation of CCTV is tightly controlled which is why its taken Ibiza Town council since 2006 to get permission to install the cameras so thankfully don’t expect UK style coverage any time soon.

Hi I’m currently looking for work in Ibiza for installation of CCTV, Fire, Net2 Door Access & Intruder. I have 10years experience in this field. Can anyone help me in this matter as I would like to move me and my family to ibiza (wife and 1 child of 13years). We have been coming to IBIZA for the last 6 years and would like to settle there as we have freinds who already live in IBIZA.
I would be gratefull for any information that can be given to me. Thanks.
