At lunchtime today, police detonated a suspicious small package with a controlled explosion after receiving a number of bomb warnings through the Gara newspaper. The airport was due to handle 40,000 passengers and 300 flights today. Although the Guardi had set up a road block just after San Jordi, the island has loads of little caminos so we went another route ….
Inside the airport it wasn’t as bad as we thought it would be, although we saw one flight come in about 4pm, all incoming flights on the board were delayed and by 5pm 90% of outbound flights were still delayed.
Impressive though was the immediate setting up of medcal facilities and the giving out of free water to everyone.
The last thing the island needs right now…..

In only the third week of its third annual groundbreaking mission to change the stereotype that was ‘Ibiza music’ (read ‘house’), ‘Ibiza Rocks’ hit a brick wall when Simian mobile (?) disco cancelled their date at the eleventh hour because half of their required equipment wouldn’t arrive in time…
But Ibiza certainly rocks and within seconds Andy, Ibiza Rocks’ boss, had the name and number of another exciting new indie band at his fingertips. They just happened to be on the island recording their debut album – as we reported in this blog last Friday.
So next Tuesday there’s a free party down at Bar M with the Hungover Stuntmen, Does It Offend You Yeah? & Gash DJ´s and if you have already bought tickets you can still get a refund.
Thank god Andy and his team at Ibiza Rocks are keeping their eye on our blog – just like you… ;)

“We were really looking forward to playing [monday]. Circumstances conspired against us however as we found out yesterday that it wasnt going to be possible to half of our live kit – including our lights – on to the island in time for the show. We will rescedule the live gig for another time and hopefully you can catch us dj’ing at Manumission throughout the summer.”
So instead, Ibiza Rocks are having a free party for everyone… “Does It Offend You?” & Gash DJs and our favourite bunch of guys Hungover Stuntmen have stepped ino the breach.
We cant wait…
Also The Go! Team will be supporting the great brazilian lot CSS on the 10th

This Friday 29th June, MANUMISSION are collaborating with WHAT NOT TO SHARE, the UK based Hepatitis C Trust @ Privilege Discoteca in Ibiza.
“La Chatte Agile” aka the VIP Room at Manumission, will play host to the following guests, all in aid of the cause…. Zane Lowe, Uncle Buck, Guest Star: Carl Barat from the Dirty Pretty Things, Dan Peppe (Themroc) & Lisa Moorish (live).
This is a great cause, and everyone at Manumission are right behind it. They’d love you to help spread the WhatNotToShare word amongst your going-out pals and your workmate pals to raise some awareness of exactly what hepatitis C is and how it can be contracted and hopefully raise some awareness for their premier event/collaboration at Manumission at the same time. They want to highlight the campaign on the island throughout the summer. They’ll be 3000 posters a week throughout the summer to highlight this campaign.
In the main room, Residents Griff, Colin Peters and Tom Middleton will be duelling for attention with the action on the main stage, as A film director, his Muse and the glittering CineManumission Film Studios swing into action. The evil billionaire Lord Otterman, a Bionic Dictator and a dastardly plan. The resistance army of Flamenco Freedom Fighters led by Le Chat Agile.
Step into Sleazeville, however, and it’s a whole different ballgame.. Live to Shop, and Shop to Live (it works for us) with Tom King and guests.
In the fight between innocence and corruption there can only be one question: ‘Whose side are YOU on?
See for yourself..

This is the sort of thing that only happens in Ibiza – but its so normal it makes sense. This morning Morna Valley International School had their end of year prize-giving celebration. After giving out loads of prizes etc a number of students took to the stage for various performances.
One minute Paco is playing to 10,000 people in the worlds biggest club, the next he’s sharing a small stage with the next generations artists – brilliant…

Today we had the pleasure of meeting up with the great guys from Hungover Stuntmen.
This 4 piece who’ve already got the support of Paul Weller, Roger Daltrey et al have been invited over by ex Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor to record their debut album at his studios here in Ibiza. They only arrived yesterday morning but they are already into it and it sounds very promising…
Top blokes with a great attitude. Their main website is here – but you can hear some stuff and read their blog at their myspace page here
We’ve done an article for Ibiza Now magazine so as soon as thats published we’ll put it up here – or maybe before…

DC10 have been given the go ahead to opening on Monday after the court in Palma overturned the decision. Basically DC10 were found to have done enough with respect to trying to stop drugs being taken on the premises.
However Cream have announced that they are cancelling their opening night tonight.
“It is with regret that Cream has had to cancel its Opening Party at Amnesia. We offer our sincere apologies to all our customers and partners for such a late decision and any inconvenience caused. Customers who have purchased any advanced tickets will be fully reimbursed by the agency who sold the tickets. Despite having an alternative venue for the party, it was decided to allow Amnesia, our partners for the last 10 years, an opportunity to overturn the authorities decision to close the venue for a month.
Unfortunately, any such decision will now not allow the artists to arrive in Ibiza or for our team to suitably promote the event; hence the managment of Cream deciding on such a difficult decision, to cancel the Opening Party. We hope that the matter will be resolved soon and to open the following Thursday on Thursday 28th June, with a star studded line up. More information coming soon. Many thanks for your understanding and support”

It was such a good night we put the siesta on hold and put up some more pics from last night:
The View’s version of Squeeze’s Up The Junction was brilliant – We thought we knew the words but it was done at such a pace we couldn’t keep up… blinding…
